Briefly surfing Vimeo earlier I came across this awesome video.

As far as I can tell, the video is shot live, but the spin rate is the same as the frame rate – so it looks like it is animated. It just blew me away – reminding me of my Phenakistoscope which I got from a museum as a child.
It also reminded me of the MonkeyLectric Video Pro 7 which I would love to buy from monkeylectric if I had a spare $2000 lying around (they do a much cheaper, non video model too):
